Goodbye, California

We've enjoyed our time in California, but it's time for us to move on—and we're excited to be moving to Arizona!

Our house is full of boxes, and we're almost all packed. I've gotten a good new job that's taking us out there, and we're headed out soon.

We'll miss all the great friends we've made. Shoot one of us an email and we'll send you our new address.

Just a little late.

9 months!

Our little boy is growing up so fast! He is still above average in height, weight, and head circumference. He has perfected the army crawl. Every once in a while he will pop up onto his knees, but it doesn't last long. He has 8 teeth and is loving the idea of solid foods. He loves crawling up to the bookcase and taking out all of the books. We have caught him flipping through Don Quixote and Six Easy Pieces (a book of physics lectures). We've always known he would be smart. He also loves to take out all of the DVDs from their case. Although he appears to be serious in a lot of pictures (he is a very calm, quiet boy around other people), he is very chatty and loves to laugh. He is so sweet!

It is so fun to watch him grow into a little boy. He is the best thing that has ever happened to us!

Full Speed Ahead

It's been a big week for Miles. While he previously accomplished all of his moving around by rolling over, he's just discovered the joys of crawling.

He's not terribly efficient yet, but it's plenty to get him where he wants to go. And now you get to see it!

Recent projects

For those of you who know me well, you know that I hate crafts. Making crafts was probably my least favorite part of girls camp. But since M was born, that creative crafty side of me has popped out and is keeping me busy. And sane. Which are good things. I definitely don't make things look perfect or even good sometimes, but I sure have fun while I am doing it. Here are a few of my recent projects.

I heard about these meatcakes from my sister-in-law. I have been dying to try them ever since. They were so fun to make! Especially piping on the mashed potatoes. And they tasted good too, so that was a bonus.



While browsing through the blogs I read, I have seen so many different onesies with things stitched on them. I decided it was time for me to try and make one for M. This was definitely one of the easiest things I have done in a long time. Tonight I am going to make another one, probably with whales on it. Or a spaceship. Or maybe an elephant. So many options!




I am also making a blanket for a friend in Utah who is possibly having her baby right now. (I know, I'm a little behind.) I'm just finishing it up though, so I won't post a picture yet. I don't want to ruin the surprise. Stay tuned though!

More videos!

We loved playing peek-a-boo with M because he would spit and make funny noises when he saw us. He doesn't do this anymore so we are glad we caught it on tape.





M loves to make the pbthbptbhtpbht noise. Sometimes there is a lot of spit involved. He makes some pretty awesome bubbles in this video.

Two Miles videos!

These aren't exactly new... but I've just barely gotten them off the camera.

This first video is Miles in his swing. There's a mirror just above him in which he can see himself—which he loves. This video is of him laughing at his own reflection.




And this video is Miles with his Grandma Pimentel, playing with a toy and making cute sounds.

Time for an update!

It is definitely time to update this blog. Our little guy is 6 months old now! He weighs 19 lbs. and 8 oz. He has had so many "firsts" over the past few weeks. Here are some highlights of his development.

He has almost perfected the ability to balance a cup on his nose. Just a few little fingers are needed now to hold it on there.



This is M in his new towel. He loves it.

We spent a weekend up in Bakersfield with Grandma and Grandpa Pimentel. We took that opportunity to get a family photo taken.

M's first solid food was rice cereal. He ate it, but didn't really enjoy it. We have since switched to oatmeal which he loves! He can't seem to get enough!


First time in a pool! He was a little apprehensive at first, but once we were in, he was happy.

M loves to put his toys in his mouth and then let go. He frequently carries his toys around this way.
